The Learning by Service course is as follows:
This course is required subjects, 18 hours per semester, 2 semesters in total, 0 credits.
2. The course content is divided into two categories: Campus Service and Off-campus Service:
(1) Campus services: Provide learning environment services to various teaching and administrative units. The course content is provided by the applicant units, and are approved by the Student Life Office, Dean of Student Affairs.
(2) Off-campus Services: Include counseling for primary and secondary school, public welfare organizations, charitable groups, or other related services, and are approved by the Student Activities Office, Dean of Student Affairs.
3. Those who study for a bachelor's degree must complete 2 semesters of the Learning by Service course within the school period before graduation.
4. Students who are unable to attend this course for reasons must ask for leave in accordance with regulations. Those who are absent without asking for leave will be regarded as absent. Except for public holidays, all leave requests must be made up in the same semester in the same number of hours, and those who have not made up are regarded as absent.
5. Students who take this course and miss ⅓ of total hours will be assessed as a fail for the semester.
6. Students with physical and mental disabilities taking this course, the work is appropriately adjusted by service units according to the actual situation. Some conditions may be exempted from works with the approval of the service unit, the Dean of Student Affairs and the General Education Center.
7.Off-campus Services credits: Students serve as internal or foreign volunteers in various government agencies, schools or social welfare/educational foundations. After the service is completed, obtain the volunteer service hours certificate issued by the service unit, and submit the mid-term personal record report form and the end of term personal record report. The personal record report (including photos or video files) will be reviewed and credited by the Student Activities Office, Dean of Student Affairs.
8. Application process:
(1) Students need to pass 12 hours of basic training for internal and external volunteers, which can only be redeemed once for 6 hours of service time and obtain a certificate. From the 1st week~the 2nd week and the 17th week~the 18th week of each semester, the "Off-campus Public Service Application Form" must be submitted and approved by the Student Activities Office, Dean of Student Affairs before they provide public service.
(2) For the credits in the preceding paragraph, 18 hours of service should be performed in the same semester, winter vacation, and summer vacation in the same unit and the same period, and the application should be submitted within 1 month after the end.
