Before applying for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), please confirm your eligibility, the application period specified by the relevant overseas mission, and the courses offered by the Center that meet the applicable requirements. Applications must be completed in accordance with the regulations announced by the Ministry of Education and the relevant overseas mission.

2|Eligibility
Applicants must be foreign nationals aged 18 or older who hold a high school diploma or higher qualification and have an excellent academic record and good moral character. Individuals meeting any of the following conditions are not eligible to apply:
Individuals who hold overseas Chinese student status or a Republic of China (Taiwan) passport.
Individuals who are currently studying Mandarin in Taiwan or who have previously pursued a degree program in Taiwan.
Individuals who have previously received the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship or the Taiwan Scholarship.
Individuals who, during their period of Mandarin study in Taiwan, are concurrently enrolled as exchange students under an academic cooperation agreement between a university or college in Taiwan and an overseas institution.
Individuals who are concurrently receiving scholarships, grants, or subsidies provided by a government agency, institution, or educational institution in Taiwan.
3|Application Office
The Taipei Representative Office, Taiwan Representative Office, or other relevant Republic of China (Taiwan) overseas mission serving the applicant's country.
4|Application Period
February 1 to March 31 Each Year
The actual application period is subject to the application guidelines announced by each overseas mission.
6|Important Information on Selecting a Course at the Center
HES applicants must enroll in a Mandarin course that meets the applicable scholarship and visa requirements.
Applicants who require an FR visa or are applying for the HES must select the Center's Regular Seasonal Class.
The Center's In-person Group Classes, Online Group Classes, and Customized Private Classes are not eligible for FR visa or HES applications.
※ NOTICE: Starting from June 2026, HES recipients are strictly prohibited from entering Taiwan visa-free, with an e-visa, or with a visa on arrival. Scholarship recipients who fail to comply with these requirements will be ineligible to receive the scholarship.
