HES Application Process

◎ 1. Scholarship Award

NT$28,000 per month.

◎ 2. Eligibility

Applicants must be foreign nationals aged 18 or above, have graduated from senior high school or above, and demonstrate good academic performance and good moral character. Applicants with any of the following statuses are not eligible:

1. Applicants with overseas Chinese student status or holders of an ROC passport.
2. Applicants who are currently studying Mandarin in Taiwan or have previously pursued a degree program in Taiwan.
3. Applicants who have previously received the HES scholarship or the Taiwan Scholarship.
4. Applicants who, during their Mandarin study in Taiwan, are also exchange students admitted through academic cooperation agreements between universities/colleges in Taiwan and foreign schools.
5. Applicants who are also receiving any scholarship or subsidy offered by Taiwan government agencies, institutions, or schools.

◎ 3. Application Office

Applications should be submitted to the Taipei Representative Office, Taiwan Representative Office, or relevant ROC overseas mission in the applicant’s country.

◎ 4. Application Period

The application period is generally from February 1 to March 31 each year. The actual application period shall be subject to the announcement of each ROC overseas mission.

◎ 5. Application Method

Please follow the Ministry of Education Directions for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship and the application guidelines announced by each ROC overseas mission.

◎ 6. Course Selection Reminder

• HES scholarship applicants must enroll in a Mandarin course that meets both scholarship and visa requirements.
• Applicants who need an FR visa or are applying for the HES scholarship MUST choose the Regular Seasonal Class at this Center.
• The Group Class, Online Group Class, and Customized Private Class offered by this Center are NOT applicable for FR visa or HES scholarship applications.

※NOTICE: Starting from June 2026, scholarship recipients are strictly prohibited from entering Taiwan visa-free, with an e-visa, or with a visa on arrival. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in ineligibility to receive the scholarship.
