01|Stepping into Taiwan’s Baseball Culture
To help international students experience Taiwanese culture beyond the classroom, the Language Center, together with the International Student Employment Counseling Program and the Office of International Affairs, organized a cultural visit to Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium. Students from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and France attended a Chinese Professional Baseball League game and experienced the energy and excitement of one of Taiwan’s most popular sports.
02|Cheering with Local Fans
For many students, this was their first time attending a professional baseball game in Taiwan. The coordinated cheering routines, energetic music, passionate fan interaction, and fast-paced competition created a memorable introduction to Taiwanese baseball culture. Students also designed their own cheering signs and enthusiastically joined the local fans in supporting the home team.
“Go TSG Hawks!”
「雄鷹飛翔,台鋼必勝!」
03|Learning about Taiwan’s Sports Industry
At the Language Center, we believe that language learning extends beyond the classroom. Through authentic cultural experiences, students can develop a deeper understanding of Taiwanese society while using language in meaningful real-life settings. The baseball experience also offered students an opportunity to observe the many professional fields connected to Taiwan’s sports industry, including venue operations, event management, brand marketing, media promotion, activity planning, and customer service. By looking beyond the game itself, students gained a broader understanding of Taiwan’s industries, workplaces, and professional environment.
04|Exploring Taiwan through Language and Community
The Language Center will continue to develop learning activities that connect language, culture, local communities, and everyday life. By learning Mandarin through authentic experiences, international students can not only improve their language abilities, but also explore Taiwan, understand Taiwanese society, and build meaningful connections with local communities. We look forward to creating more memorable opportunities for students to learn, participate, and discover Taiwan together.
